Aiki Ten Shin Sho Kai has been running classes for schools, both primary and secondary, for many years.

Similar courses have been run for the Brisbane City Council's Active Parks Program.

The courses can be easily tailored to meet the requirements and facilities of the individual school and classes can be run either at the school or at our South Brisbane Dojo (Map).

The classes are structured around teaching the principles of self defence rather than the memorising of complex techniques. An integral part of every course is awareness raising exercises to help students avoid ever being in dangerous situations in the first place.

In order to prevent their misuse all the techniques taught are purely defensive - what to do if someone grabs you or tries to kick or punch - not how to kick, punch or eye gouge.

Based on the martial art of Aiki Tai Jutsu the techniques are designed to be used by smaller weaker people against bigger stronger attackers. They are thus suitable for any level of physical fitness or body strength.

Each technique is centred on the same fundamental principles making them simple, effective and easy to learn. Indeed, by the end each course, students should be equipped with enough understanding to create their own techniques enabling them to deal with situations not specifically covered in the classes.

A more comprehensive outline of these courses, including some short videos is available
